5 Reasons Why People Are Afraid of Muay Thai Training

September 29, 2023 | Training

Muay Thai, known as the “Art of Eight Limbs,” is a discipline that will build both your mind and body into the best version of yourself. But for many peeps, the idea of stepping into Muay Thai training can be terrifying. Let’s explore the fears that often hold them back…

1. Fear of Embarrassment

Starting something new can be intimidating, and the fear of looking inexperienced, and not knowing what to do, can be crippling.

How we can help: Our club is a judgment-free zone, with no egos. We understand that everyone has to start somewhere, and sometimes that is as a beginner (86% of people who come to us, have never done anything like this before). Our Coaches and fellow members are supportive, approachable, and encouraging. You’ll find a welcoming community that will allow you to learn the skills, in a fun, safe and welcoming environment, whilst boosting your confidence.

2. Lack of Confidence

Self-doubt is a common fear. You might wonder if you’re cut out for Muay Thai, but the truth is, you are. (It may just take some time for you to discover that!)

How we can help: Muay Thai is an excellent way to build self-confidence. Our Coaches guide you through each technique and progression. As you see your skills improve, your self-assurance will grow, not only in the gym but in your daily life.

3. Physical Fitness Level

Concerns about your current fitness level are valid, but Muay Thai can improve it dramatically.

How we can help: Our programs are designed to accommodate all fitness levels. We’ll work with you to enhance your strength, endurance, and overall fitness gradually and safely in atimely manner.

4. Fear of Injury

Injuries are a common worry, especially in an intense combat sport like Muay Thai.

How we can help: Safety is our highest priority. We emphasise proper form, and our Coaches ensure you train in a safe environment. You’ll learn to do things safely, with correct technique, (with feedback), keeping you and your training partners safe while minimising the risk of injury.

5. Social Anxiety

Meeting new people can be overwhelming, but remember, you’re not alone.

How we can help: Our club is a vibrant community of individuals who share your passion for Muay Thai. The anxiety of meeting new people quickly gives way to camaraderie and friendship as you work together toward your own personal goals.

Don’t let these common fears deter you from the transformative experience of Muay Thai.

It’s not just about fighting; it’s a path to personal growth, empowerment, and mental resilience.
